Bill Lavender is a poet, novelist and publisher in New Orleans. He has published seven books of poetry, including the epic verse memoir, Memory Wing, from Black Widow Press. Other books include Transfixion (Trembling Pillow 2009), I of the Storm (Trembling Pillow 2006), While Sleeping (Chax Press 2004), look the universe is dreaming (Potes and Poets 2002), and Guest Chain (Lavender Ink 1999). He also edited the anthology, Another South: Experimental Writing in the South, from University of Alabama Press (2003). His poetry and essays have appeared in numerous print magazines including Prairie Schooner, Jubilat and New Orleans Review, and his essays on literature have appeared in Poetics Today and Contemporary Literature, among other magazines. He started his publishing house, Lavender Ink, in 1995, and since then has published more than 100 books of poetry, fiction and nonfiction, with 16 titles launching in 2014 and that many scheduled for 2015 as well. In 2013 he published his first novel, Q, with Trembling Pillow. These days he divides his time between publishing and carpentry, and he is working on his second novel, a sequel to Q.
