Welcome to the Valley Writing Workshop Support Pages
For "Writing-Intensive" Courses and Faculty Writing
Hello! We're happy that you've found us.
And we hope that you have found us because, as a student in or a teacher of record in a "Writing-Intensive" course, you are seeking some support. We expect to deliver that support to BOTH groups in the following pages. If you're a student looking for ideas about how to organize your papers, effectively and correctly incorporate source material, locate some materials that could help you revise your work, or find web sites that can help you gain control of some basic grammar and sentence structure, you'll find it here. If you're an instructor of a Gen. Ed. or upper-level "writing-intensive" course, you may be looking for assignment ideas, alternative rubrics, some tips on how to effectively RESPOND to student work and encourage revision, ideas for using "peer review" activities with your students, or developing small collections of writing aids, tips, explanations, or methods for students to "stage" your assignments. You'll find those here. Our mission is to assist BOTH groups of very interested parties in your struggle to complete successfully your "writing-intensive" course experiences. If you have any doubt about the need to address the support of student writing and faculty teaching of writing across the curriculum, you need only read the Spring 2007 GECCIG Assessment Report of 1C courses.
As this web-site develops, we hope that it will serve those of you who come to it increasingly well. And, if you don't find what you're looking for, we expect that you will tell us what you need. Again, thanks for using us.
