Candidates who are native speakers of English must have a minimum of two years of a foreign language at the college level (or the equivalent). This language requirement may be met in residence, but courses taken to fulfill it will not count toward the degree.
Candidates whose native language is not English must have a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper) or the equivalent on the Internet (79-80) or Computer (213) versions to enter the program. Applicants should request ETS to send official TOEFL score reports directly to the College of Graduate Studies and Research. MSU's institutional TOEFL code is 6677.
An undergraduate major or minor in a relevant field (English, linguistics, or a modern language other than English) is highly desirable but not absolutely required.
The GRE is not required for admission.
International applicants do not need ECE evaluation of their transcripts.
For a Graduate School Application form and information, visit the College of Graduate Studies web site.
International Students are eligible for in-state tuition.
