Graduate Teaching Assistantships

The TESL program, through the Department of English, offers graduate teaching assistantships (teaching (freshman composition/ESL classes) and non-teaching assistantships at stipends of approximately $9000 over two semesters. Assistants receive full tuition remission for up to 18 credits over the academic year (two semesters). All graduate assistants are required to enroll for a minimum of six credits per semester. Assistants are provided office space and have faculty library privileges.

Assistantships are also available to teach Spanish, French or German. For more information on these assistantships, visit the Department of World Languages & Cultures. Other assistantships are available from Student Affairs, Memorial Library, and Residential Life offices of the University. Graduate Assistantship Announcements

Vacancy notices for graduate assistantships are provided on the Human Resources website. The Department of English offers teaching assistantships and some graduate assistantships. The majority of the assistantships are awarded to students studying in residence (i.e., to students studying on campus). Students are encouraged to apply for any assistantship for which they are qualified and are not limited to assistantships within the Department of English.
