About STC

The Society for Technical Communication (STC) is an individual membership organization dedicated to advancing the arts and sciences of technical communication. It is the largest organization of its type in the world, with over 20,000 members whose jobs involve communicating technical information.

Membership in STC provides technical communicators with opportunities for ongoing learning and professional networking. STC promotes the public welfare by educating its members and industry about the issues concerning technical communication.

Visit the STC Web site to find more information, including STC goals and ethical principles, publication indexes, facts and figures about the Society, employment postings, grants and scholarships, membership forms, and much more.

About the MSU Chapter

STC is organized on three levels: chapter, regional, and society. STC is governed at the Society level by an elected board of directors. Membership is divided into 8 regions, each containing approximately 20 local chapters. In addition to the Society leaders, each local chapter elects its own officers.

Minnesota State University, Mankato chapter organizes seasonal events, which help members promote professionalism, network, and learn about the technical communication industry. The chapter also has a facebook group and a blog.

On a regional level, MSU is one of 25 chapters grouped in Region 6. Close location with other chapters allows us to regularly participate in a variety of chapter activities and events.

Chapter Leaders & Volunteers

In addition to regular attendance of monthly meetings, STC members can volunteer in a number of positions. Contact Lee Tesdell if you are interested.
