The Film Studies Minor is an undergraduate liberal arts program in the Department of English that teaches students to look at films from creative, aesthetic, historical and cultural perspectives. Production classes prepare students to make their own films. The practice of critical viewing and analysis can be applied in a wide variety of occupations. Career opportunities for graduates with a film studies minorinclude jobs with film companies, film archives and festivals. The minor also prepares students for graduate work in film studies.
Students interested in studying film on the graduate level can do so through the MA English Studies degree — a general degree that allows students to shape their program.
The film faculty are dedicated to preparing their students for successful careers in many fields.
