ENG 621: Introductory Workshop for New TAs
English 621 is an intensive summer workshop that meets every day during the first two weeks of August. Co-taught by the Composition Director and the TA Mentors, the workshop introduces TAs to the English 101 Course Competencies and alerts them to campus resources that can support their teaching. By the end of the workshop, TAs should be prepared to teach their first unit.
Eng 622 is a weekly fall workshop that helps TAs continue their teaching preparations with support from the Composition Director and their peers.
ENG 625: Composition Theory
Eng 625 is a graduate seminar that familiarizes students with the major pedagogical movements in Composition Studies over the last fifty years. The course helps TAs develop teaching philosophies informed by theory and research on writing/teaching writing. Because of the breadth and dynamism of scholarship in Composition, the course content varies widely each semester.
