Raymond and Florence Sponberg Scholarship

Award Description
The award will be given to an outstanding female graduate student in English. The recipient must be enrolled for a minimum of six hours per semester for the period of the award. The 2013 award amount is yet to be determined.
Eligibility
To qualify for consideration, a candidate must
- be enrolled as a female graduate student in English
- be in her second or third semester of study
- have formally submitted her Plan of Study
- be enrolled for a minimum of six semester hours per semester during the period of the award, which is disbursed evenly over two consecutive semesters
Application Procedure
To apply, a candidate must
- complete the English Awards [PDF] cover sheet (140 KiB)
- complete an application letter of no more than two pages. In the letter, the candidate must discuss (a) her academic achievements since admission to graduate study and (b) the relationship of her graduate program to her aspirations and how the award would facilitate reaching them.
- provide a curriculum vitae
- provide letters of support from two faculty members. These letters should be sent by the faculty members directly to the English Department Awards Committee

Applicants may apply for all English awards for which they qualify. For students who apply for multiple awards, the Awards Committee will confer the highest-amount award that a student may be eligible to receive.
The award recipient will be announced in April.
