Eddice B. Barber English Education Award

Award Description

The award will be given to an undergraduate English education major who will student-teach during the upcoming Fall or Spring term. The 2013 award amount is $700.

Eligibility

To qualify for consideration, a candidate must

• be a junior or senior, majoring in English Education, who will student teach during the upcoming fall or spring term
• have earned a GPA of at least 3.66 in English courses for the major

Application Procedure

To apply, a candidate must

• complete the English Awards [PDF] cover sheet (140 KiB), including the names and contact information for two references
• complete an application letter of no more than two pages. In the letter, the candidate must discuss (a) his/her academic and extracurricular accomplishments and other relevant qualifications and (b) provide a statement of purpose detailing his/her career aspirations and how the award would facilitate reaching them.
• provide an unofficial transcript

 Applicants may apply for all English awards for which they qualify. For students who apply for multiple awards, the Awards Committee will confer the highest-amount award that a student may be eligible to receive.

The award recipient will be announced in April.
